The mission of the library...

The mission of the Denison ISD Libraries is to provide a warm, safe, and positive environment for students to learn, grow, and explore.  We will promote and foster a love for reading while preparing students with information literacy skills that will help prepare them to be independent learners and thinkers for the 21st century.  We provide a variety of up-to-date materials to support and enrich the education of all our students, as well as support the curriculum of our teachers. Our goal is to promote a love of reading.

The mission of the Henry Scott Middle School (SMS) Library is to be a warm, welcoming, and inclusive space where every student and staff member is encouraged to grow, learn, and belong. We foster a love of reading, writing, literature, creativity, and lifelong learning while supporting research, academic achievement, and personal growth. Through access to books, technology, digital resources, and engaging learning opportunities, we promote digital citizenship and empower students to locate, evaluate, and use information from both print and digital sources ethically, responsibly, and effectively.

The library serves as a safe and inviting place beyond the classroom where students can collaborate, recharge, build meaningful social skills, and feel valued, supported, and inspired. By partnering with teachers and encouraging inquiry, critical thinking, and curiosity, the Henry Scott Middle School Library equips students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in today's world and continue learning throughout their lives.
